Match Official Profiling
This article provides information on how to “profile” a match official and configure the the divisions that they will be targeted towards by the Intelligent Appointments.
Establishing your objectives
Collecting the correct information
First step in enabling successful profiling of match officials is to ensure that you collect the correct information that will provide you the details to made educated decisions about the match officials and their capabilities.
An example could be to collect the “Maximum division that the individual can officiate”. To do this add a field to the Registration Details with the following configuration:
Type: Playing Division Name: Highest division you can referee
This requires that you have configured the divisions in the Competition Configuration correctly.
Configuring the Allowed Divisions for Intelligent Appointments targeting
Intelligent Appointments works by reading each members individual configuration and evaluating the divisions that are configured for “Allowed” or “Targeted” divisions based on the targeted priority. This is then combined with their availability to determine the suitability of that individual for the match. Knowing this it will help you to profile the member group.
HINT: Each competition is different. The exact configuration is very unique to the number of divisions, teams per division, number of time slots, and number of members per time slot. It may take some experimenting with the configuration to find the right balance that meets your needs. The import/export draw feature can assist with that process.
The following steps are based on our recommended guidance assuming that the competition has several divisions and that there is a range of match officials available for each division. The higher the number of divisions the more complicated that the configuration process will be.
Step 1
Think about your divisions and rank them in order from difficulty or experience requirement in order from easiest to hardest. For this walk through we will assume the following divisions in difficulty order:
- 10G (10 Girls)
- 10B (10 Boys)
- 12G (12 Girls)
- 12B (12 Boys)
- 16G (16 Girls)
- 16B (16 Boys)
Step 2
Working through the list of divisions in the order of difficulty (easiest to hardest), use the Manage Members and in the Advanced Criteria enter the filter for the field you configured that captures the highest division they are capable of officiating.
Recommend that you review several of the members to ensure that your filtering is correctly targeted.
Place a tick in the checkbox for each of the members
Click the edit Intelligent Appointments targeted divisions button in the toolbar.
Adjust the preference of this list based on the division. The default priority is set to 10, this is intentionally the midway point. we recommend you aim your highest prioritized division at 3 or 5. This still allows some room to elevate individuals above the majority if required. The following examples take the above division lists and demonstrate possible prioritization, it also illustrates the configuration for div 1 and div 2 scenarios with an assumption they are rated equal.

NOTE: We do not recommend using the ANY division option when you want to restrict back the divisions that someone can officiate, and doing so based on capabilities. It is designed for when you are happy that the match official can do any division even when short and cannot cover by more experienced and targeted officials.
Step X - test
Now it is time to test the profiling and configuration. As each competition will vary in exact optimal configuration this testing will allow you to identify the optimal configuration. For that reason it is recommended this be done as early as you can in the cycle leading up to the competition’s event day.
