How to register for a competition
A competition within the SportsM8 platform is a single tournament or season long competition. The competition is associated to a single venue or entity, sometimes referred to as association in some sports.
In some sports they may run competitions over multiple venues, but within SportsM8 we would consider the venue a competition, but ultimately it comes down to how the venue/competition is administered. If it is independent of the other venue, or even parts of the administration is independent, then we would suggest it be a separate competition within SportsM8. Using our Entity hierarchy, future releases of SportsM8 will provide governance at an entity level allowing easy oversight of multiple competitions.
Before you begin
If you have not already done so, you need to complete the following steps before registering for a competition:
Once you have your Account & Profile setup then you can proceed with registering into a competition.
Finding and joining a competition
The first step is to find and register for a competition.
- From our home page locate the competition you wish to register for in the list of Upcoming Competitions.
- Click the Register button - You will be guided to the registration wizard.
- The first step is to select your Persona. This is the type of registration you are making. The options here vary from competition to competition, you should select 1 or more of the provided options, following any specific guidance given to you by the coordinators.
- Next you will be asked to provide your information. This is a mixture of your contact information taken from your SportsM8 Profile, as well as any additional competition specific information the coordinators require.
- Should any of the required profile information be incomplete, you will not be able to submit the form. You should click the UNLOCK button to allow editing of your profile information and ensure all required information is provided.
- The next step will ask you to confirm your bank payment information. This information is linked from your SportsM8 profile, if it needs changing you need to UNLOKC the fields to edit them.
- The final step is to review and agree to any digital documents that the coordinators have provided. The visibility of this step and exact documents contained, vary from competition to competition. You should also not agree to any documents you do not accept, however, the competition coordinators can advise further on any impact this has.
I couldn’t find the competition in Upcoming Competitions
There are many reasons for this. The coordinators may not yet have listed the competition, or it may not yet be open for registration. You can also follow these steps to try and search for the competition.
- From the main menu select Competitions > Competitions Search.
- Use the form to locate the competition you wish to join
- In the search results, select the Register button for the competition you wish to join
- Follow the same steps as above
Updating your registration details
After registering for a competition you can return to the competition and update your details. This includes providing availability and other information which competition administrators and coordinators may request you to provide after the initial registration.
NOTE: Competition Admins can disable this functionality for security reasons. If you find you cannot follow these steps to update your details we recommend contacting the competition administrators and coordinators directly for assistance as they can override the registration details.
The easiest method is from our home page:
- From our home page locate the competition you wish to update your registration for in the list of My Competitions.
- Click the “Update Registration” button, as this will take you the same registration wizard used to join the competition.
- Make any of the required changes following the same steps outlined above.
- Click the “Update Registration” button to save your changes.
