The April 2022 update improved several core competition administration workflows, including scheduling, appointment management, member check-in, coaching feedback, push notifications, and mobile usability. This release also added more safeguards around completed competition days.
Highlights
Section titled “Highlights”- Competition days can be classified, with field-level overrides where needed.
- Payment rules can consider day and field classification.
- Check-in and check-out workflows were improved and made easier to access.
- The match coach portal gained a fixture grid to simplify adding feedback.

Web App
Section titled “Web App”Competition day classification
Section titled “Competition day classification”Competition administrators can classify a day as a sub-category of the competition and override the classification at an individual field. Payment rules can consider this classification, giving competitions more flexibility when different days or fields need different payment handling.
Safer appointment and draw changes
Section titled “Safer appointment and draw changes”Intelligent Appointments, deleting or clearing appointments, and draw management received user experience improvements to reduce the chance of selecting time slots that have already occurred.
SportsM8 also added extra confirmation steps to reduce the possibility of deleting a day configuration that has already been completed.
Check-in and check-out improvements
Section titled “Check-in and check-out improvements”The member check-in and check-out workflow was improved, including the ability to launch check-in from the home page. This makes it easier for competitions to track attendance and member arrival.
Coaching fixture grid
Section titled “Coaching fixture grid”The match coach portal now includes a fixture grid to simplify adding feedback. This gives coaches a clearer fixture-based view when recording feedback.
Mobile display improvements
Section titled “Mobile display improvements”General user experience improvements were made for mobile display, helping key competition workflows work better on smaller screens.
Push notifications and PWA support
Section titled “Push notifications and PWA support”SportsM8 added and refined push notification support for messages and appointments, notification preferences, service worker registration, app icons, offline handling, and GitHub Pages routing support.
Forfeit and appointment payment handling
Section titled “Forfeit and appointment payment handling”Match schedule and payment workflows gained improved handling for forfeits, appointment payment status, and default allowed divisions.
Backend & Integrations
Section titled “Backend & Integrations”Push notification support
Section titled “Push notification support”Backend push notification support was added for appointment and message notifications, including unsubscribe support and appointment publication checks.
Scheduling and payment rules
Section titled “Scheduling and payment rules”Backend support was added for match classification, classification expressions, Intelligent Appointment minimum match officials per game, and improved payment amount handling.
